Connecting our Canyon: Elevate’s Fiber Internet Reaches Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park can now boast unrivaled internet speeds right along with its views. This summer, Elevate Internet, the local fiber broadband provider, built out its network in the park, bringing with it world-class internet speeds and opportunities for advanced emergency communications and improved operations for park staff and visitors alike.

"When emergencies strike, time is of the essence, and a reliable internet connection ensures uninterrupted communication between park staff, emergency services, and visitors when it matters most. Whether that's to send out important alerts and updates, respond to an injury, or conduct an emergency evacuation," stressed Johnston.

In addition to facilitating improved emergency response services, a fiber internet connection brings luxuries to the park that consumers already take for granted elsewhere, from efficient payment processing at the gate and visitor center to the ability to access information, maps, and other educational resources.

Elevate Internet is the fiber broadband subsidiary of Delta-Montrose Electric Association, the local co-op providing electricity to Montrose and Delta counties. Established in 2016, Elevate is now available throughout most of its two-county region, with the goal of reaching all homes and businesses in DMEA's territory by 2028.
